The West Continues to Disregard Putin — Here’s Why That’s a Problem

Conservative commentator Tucker Carlson recently took the internet by storm. He dropped a highly anticipated interview with Russian President Vladimir Putin concerning the ongoing conflict in Ukraine.

Opponents of the interview think it shouldn’t even exist. They are quick to dismiss everything Putin had to say and don’t believe the autocrat should’ve been given air time in the first place. The interview is so problematic that there are rumors that Tucker Carlson may be sanctioned by the European Union because of it.

Any rational, sane person who values critical thinking should hopefully understand why this is deeply concerning. Deplatforming an individual simply because you disagree with them doesn’t solve problems. In fact, it creates new ones.

Censoring information leads to the emergence of echo chambers. People simply stop listening to opposing viewpoints. Over time, this “otherizes” the people you disagree with, dehumanizing them.
