One Word Just Made Donald Trump the Next President
A shot was recently fired and it was definitely heard around the world.
Over the weekend, an attempt was made on the life of former president and current Republican frontrunner Donald Trump. While speaking at a rally in Pennsylvania, a gunman positioned himself on the roof of a neighboring building, firing several rounds at the podium. One attendee was killed while Mr. Trump came within less than an inch of meeting a similar fate.
News of the assassination attempt quickly flooded social media. Unsurprisingly, opinions of the shooting fell along partisan lines.
What was surprising, however, was that even in the face of political violence, the mainstream media — professional journalists and established media companies who are responsible for presenting facts to the American people — continued to take a partisan stance.
Words matter more than ever before. The inclusion — or omission — of specific words conveys hidden meanings and subtle political agendas. In the case of the attempt on Donald Trump’s life, the use of one word in particular determined how the news was covered and whether it was covered objectively at all.
